Thoughts on AI
It is here to stay. It is not something like cryptocurrency that is often a scam. It is real.
It will change many knowledge jobs, such as programming, writing, analysis, etc. Employment will shift by the millions as a result of AI.
It will peak, it isn't innovative, it doesn't create, it simply predicts the next character with some degree of accuracy. This is useful when you need to connect different knowledge sources to solve a problem. A major technical advancement would be required to properly do thinking or advance it beyond what it currently is capable of.
It will automate many things, much like self-driving it will be able to accomplish many tasks reliably and we will tolerate the failures when it does fail. This will result in a guaranteed percentage of people having a poor experience when working with AI and we will be ok with it.
I think in 40 years we will look back on the advent of AI as a major shift in the world. We may not find it favorable, but we will universally agree that it marks a major shift, much like the cell phone, the internet, or the airplane. The AI age or whatever it is called will be remembered as one of the greats.
