Back in 2008, there was a site called 43things.com. This is after the collapse of the dot-com era, but prior to the recession that would cause a crash that ultimately would doom the site.

It was a lifestyle sort of website, promoting self-help, or how to do better in life. There was a book that the site sold, called "Dream It. List it. Do it." 18 years ago, I picked it up one morning from a Barnes and Nobles in Bellevue, Washington at the Crossroads mall. The book lists various things that you should do, in categories such as "Understand Myself" or "Fix My Finances" to "Dance". Each section contains a list of things that fit the theme that you as the reader are encouraged to do.

I have carried this small book across three continents and through six moves, yet I have never really looked at it. This summer in Japan, however, I intend to start putting some of its advice into practice. I should have started self-improvement a long time ago, but there's no time like the present.

I will write here about how things are going, documenting both the past and the present. I may also write about some of my future plans, but I think the first two topics will provide more than enough material for this blog. moves, and still never really looked at it.
